Orion’s Sword, an asterism ‘hanging’ off the hunter’s belt towards the centre of the Orion constellation. Identifiable by eye, detailed through binoculars and stunning with telescope / camera.

Here are shown the the nebulae of the sword – the Running Man & the Orion Nebula (Messier 42 / 43). Note the dust & ionised gas of this massive stellar nursery; the nearest to us, at some 8,000 trillion miles (1344 ly) from Earth.
