Rush-hour Puffballs – Stump Puffballs (Lycoperdon pyriforme) clustered on the root stump of a fallen tree; all jostling for position like commuters during rush-hour.
Beautiful Lichens growing on an Ash tree – Lobaria pulmonaria (top right) & Lobaria virens (lower left) both showing presence of sporing bodies (apothecia).
Angel Wings – A beautiful group of almost white fungi growing upon fallen conifer timber. Believed to be Pleurocybella porrigens (Angel Wings).
With mild damp autumn conditions, beautiful Fungi erupt from forest floor. Here we have the Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria). Beautiful, toxic & psychoactive; this toadstool has entered various folk-lore from Alice to Victorian Santa.
